Water Quality Protection Charge (WQPC)

The Water Quality Protection Charge (WQPC) program makes funds available to public drinking water suppliers to complete projects that protect sources of drinking water. Eligible projects include the purchase of watershed lands, property surveys and appraisals, water supply system management plans, and other physical improvements that directly protect the quality and safety of public drinking water supplies.

Eligibility

For: Public drinking water suppliers seeking funding for projects that protect sources of drinking water, consistent with program rules and the Rhode Island Water Resources Board process.

Use: Eligible uses include purchase of watershed lands, surveys and appraisals, water supply system management plans, and other physical improvements that directly protect the quality and safety of public drinking water supplies.

Terms: Applications are first submitted to the Rhode Island Water Resources Board. When project eligibility has been verified, a written request for funds can be submitted to the Infrastructure Bank.

How to apply

  1. WRB first - Submit applications to the Rhode Island Water Resources Board.
  2. After verification - When project eligibility is verified, submit a written request for funds to the Infrastructure Bank.
  3. Current round - Use posted allotments, FAQs, and the WRB/RIIB materials for the current funding period.
  4. Response - Expect follow-up on your submission according to the posted process and program volume.
